October 28th marked an inspiring milestone at Tel Aviv University’s Faculty of Medicine as a new semester began for advanced studies focused on obesity treatment. This comprehensive program brings together a range of healthcare professionals, including doctors, physical therapists, dietitian’s, and others, all dedicated to understanding obesity as a chronic disease that demands the same comprehensive care as other medical conditions.
ECPO Patient Advocate Liya Mashiach, was invited to speak to the new students, emphasising the importance of amplifying patients’ voices in the pursuit of effective treatment. “It was an honour to stand before these professionals and share the patient perspective,” Mashiach reflected after her presentation.

The launch of this program reflects a shifting healthcare paradigm in Israel, underscoring the need for compassionate, patient-centered approaches in obesity care.
