The groundbreaking international initiative SAFALIN – Health, Family, and Childhood, founded by renowned Spanish basketball star Pau Gasol, has officially arrived in Portugal. This ambitious project, aimed at preventing childhood obesity, is endorsed by UNICEF, the United Nations, and the World Health Organization.

In Portugal, SAFALIN is being implemented in collaboration with APCOI (Portuguese Association Against Childhood Obesity) and the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon. The program is designed to empower families with tools to embrace healthier lifestyles, combining fun and education for children aged 8 to 12 years.

From now until December 7, 2024, interactive sessions will take place every Saturday, led by Gasol’s expert team and enthusiastic volunteers from APCOI. Each session will focus on key themes such as:

  • Physical Activity: Encouraging movement through sports and playful activities.
  • Nutrition: Understanding balanced diets and making healthier food choices.
  • Sleep: Highlighting the importance of rest for overall well-being.
  • Emotional Well-being: Building resilience and nurturing mental health.

In addition to the engaging workshops, participants will enjoy a complimentary nutritious meal, reinforcing the importance of wholesome eating habits.
