Hello, I am Diana Castillo. I was born in Cali – Colombia but I have lived in Italy for 10 years. I am married and I am the mother of Samuel who is 12 years old.
I met Amici Obesi Onlus through his forum and thanks to them, I enquired about the different types of care of obesity. Now I’m part of the board of directors and I actively collaborate with the association.
After several attempts at treatment, I did a bariatric surgery (Sleeve Gastrectomy) which helped me lose 70 kg and take up my life again by being healthy, physically and mentally. I did several reconstructive plastic surgeries to give my body a natural and harmonious shape after the obvious weight loss.
Now together with Iris Zani (President of the association) we fight for the rights and duties of people living with Obesity. This is in order to get the recognition of obesity as a real disease and to give a cultural turning point to fight the stigma that people like us suffer every day. We want to break the silence on obesity as Marina Biglia was fighting for before she sadly passed away.
