I was born in March 1981, I am a qualifed sports instructor and teacher.

I work as a school teacher within athletics, science and maths in Copenhagen.

I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes when I was 18 years old, following the medical checkup for my driving licence. This came as a big shock as nobody else in my family had the disease. It was hard at first to relate to a disease that everyone associated with ” the old man disease” as I felt young and healthy.

I was a competitive swimmer from the age of nine until I was 16, after which I gained 50 kg or 110 lbs, so by the age of 18 I weighed 135 kg, or 300 lbs. I was a tall guy (6,6″), so I did not really notice it. I have now lost weighed and I am doing well with my disease through exercise, healthy eating and GLP-1 therapy. I have run a marathon and I am planning to do an Ironman.

I telling my story so people can how easy it is to live a life with type 2 diabetes and obesity. In my view diagnosis as a positive turning point in my life.
