The ECPO is a European organisation consisting of national advocates from across 24 countries. Our aim is to support the national associations and collaborate as one strong united voice. Here you will find more information on the support available in your country. This may range from a patient association and/or scientific association, to highlighting the work in your country in the obesity area. Obesity in Sweden

In Sweden 51% are living with Overweight and Obesity. The healthcare offered to obese patients is very varied in the different regions in Sweden. Some regions are limited and other regions provide lifestyle and nutritional advice and surgery funded by the government if you as a patient match the requirements.

 

Patient Organisations

Sweden has organisations that is available to support people who are living with obesity.

HOBS is actively working with regional and national task groups set up to develop and improve the healthcare. We are a part of  then teering groups for the  national quality registry. And we have an active role regarding the national  investments for the prevention work of obesity.

HOBS is very involved in providing Sweden with National guidelines for obesity care. The work is in progress.

HOBS provide Live chat support for different target groups (youth, parents/next of kin, and obese adults or to people close to them). Email and phone support when required. We also have digital support groups that meet via zoom on a monthly basis for people going through or have gone through weightloss surgery. We provide educational material for healthcare and school staff, for patients (young and adults) and volonteers. HOBS have online forums on the platform www.hobs.se, providing a safe and anonymous space for the groups:
1.  young people (13-18 year olds) living with obesity
2. parents to kids living with obesity
3. patients who have gone through or are considering going through weightloss surgery
